Who is behind IQOS?
Philip Morris International (PMI) is the company behind IQOS and the new Heat-not-burn technology. We are a global company that operates worldwide and has over 71,000 employees. Our vision is to be part of creation of a smoke-free future and that is why in recent years we have invested in developing an alternative to smoking traditional cigarettes.
The vision of a smoke-free future
To achieve our vision of a smoke-free future, our goal is to offer adult smokers a smoke-free nicotine product that gives the same experience as a regular cigarette, but without smoke, fire and ash. We have named the product IQOS.
Since 2008, PMI has invested over US$ 8.1 billion in research to develop IQOS. IQOS is a collaboration between 930 researchers, engineers and technicians. It uses a revolutionary Heat-not-burn technology that you can read more about here. Today, more than 20.4 million people use IQOS, of which 14.9 million adult smokers have switched to IQOS and stopped smoking traditional cigarettes.
IQOS Heat-not-burn technology
IQOS uses a Heat-not-burn technology which means that heatsticks with tobacco are heated in a controlled way. When the tobacco is heated and nit burned, the experience is similar to that of conventional cigarettes, but without the harmful smoke, fire and ash. A heatstick lasts approximately for 6 minutes or 14 puffs, which is the same time as a regular cigarette.
IQOS heatsticks contain nicotine which is an addictive substance and is intended only as an alternative to cigarettes for adult smokers.
Try IQOS with our money-back guarantee
In order for more adult smokers to be able to test IQOS and try if it is suitable for them, we offer a money-back guarantee (as long as your IQOS device is registered). This means that you can try IQOS for 60 days and then send it back if you do not like it. This is just one of the steps we are taking towards accomplishing our vision of a smoke-free future. By investing in research and new technology to create new smoke-free products, we predict that the number of smokers will decrease in the future.
